Question: If I submit an application electronically I am not able to add a signature. Is this a problem?

Answer: If submitting an application online, you will be required to indicate your consent to the University holding and processing your personal data in line with the relevant  Privacy Notice prior to submission. This will be taken as your agreement, and therefore replaces a signature on the application form.

If you submit an application either via email or post, you must sign the last page of the form before sending. Any applications received which have not been signed must be rejected, and therefore disqualified from consideration. Where possible, a member of the Personnel team will notify the applicant in cases where an application has not been signed, requesting that a signed version is re-submitted.

Question: Will my application be considered if I don't meet the Person Specification criteria?

Answer: Your application will be considered by a shortlisting panel who will review it against the Person Specification.  If you do not meet (or if you fail to demonstrate that you meet) the Person Specification criteria, the panel will not be able to shortlist you.

For further information, please contact the Personnel Unit on 0121 604 1000 ext. 2236/2328/2350.

Question: Can I submit an application form without applying for a specific post?

Answer: We are unable to accept speculative applications.  When you wish to submit an application, it must be for a specific post that is currently being advertised.

UCB do not hold speculative applications on record.

Question: When will I know if I have been successful? What is the timescale involved?

Answer: In the case of candidates who have submitted an application for employment online, you will receive an automatic email informing you of the shortlisting decision if you have not been successful. Please be advised that this may sometimes default to the 'junk' inbox, which you are advised to check if you have not received a response. It is not possible to contact individual candidates who have applied off-line.

We aim to inform successful candidates of the selection process details a minimum of one week prior to the first stage interview. Therefore, if you have not heard from us within this timeframe, please assume that you have been unsuccessful.

Feedback to candidates who are unsuccessful at the shortlisting stage will be given, on request.

Question: Is it possible to request a different interview date if I am unable to attend the published interview date?

Answer: It is not normally possible to rearrange interview dates as all interviews involve a selection panel, who agree the dates in advance.
