University College Birmingham is seeking a new leader for its
Business School; reporting to the Executive Dean of the School of Business,
Tourism and Creative Industries and leading an outstanding team of around 50
highly experienced and talented lecturers and senior lecturers. The post-holder
will look to review our portfolio of Higher and Further Education programmes,
refreshing them in line with current industry expectations, trends and student
demand. They will instigate cross-university collaboration with other academic
and professional departments and work alongside our commercial and
apprenticeship teams to ensure a rich and varied curriculum.
The successful candidate will be educated to Masters level, have
strong commercial instincts, and will have a proven track record as a highly
effective and respected leader. High energy, innovative thinking, the ability
to drive through change and an enthusiasm for new and varied ways of developing
the curriculum will be of critical importance in this role. They will have an
understanding of apprenticeships as well as Further and Higher Education, and
be committed to ensuring an outstanding student experience for each of our
students. UCB is unique in its HE/FE split (70/30), and a good understanding of
each curriculum offer and of market dynamics for each sector is important.
The University has built its reputation and much of its early
success on the quality and excellent student experience provided by its
courses. As the institution enters a new era, it is now seeking to guarantee,
through an experienced and innovative leader, that these courses and all the
services provided by the Business School continue to provide excellent outcomes
for students.
We are aspirational, high-performing and teaching-focussed, with a
clear vision aligned to continuous improvement, innovation and high-quality student

estate has been realised by the opening of our new teaching campus in February
2020; the latest phase of a £130 million investment in the University.

offer a fantastic working environment in an institution with big ambitions. Our
relatively small size means that you can have a significant influence from day
one. You’ll also get all of the great benefits of being a member of staff at

generous contributory pension scheme and access to our fantastic campus
facilities in the heart of Birmingham.
